The Silent River Kung Fu Black Belt Certificate

Our certificate has several features that serve the purpose of assuring authenticity and to provide a grounding reminder of what it means to be a black belt.

The Chinese characters on the left hand side are Lu Ping An and they translate into English as ‘Walking in peace and harmony’. This is the name of our style.

The Chinese characters on the right hand side are the four constant virtues of Confucianism: Benevolence (Jen), Righteousness (I), Propriety (Li), and Wisdom (Chih).

The Chinese characters in the centre of the certificate translate as:
You move with the speed of the leopard. You have the stamina and grace of the crane. You are as unpredicable and flexible as the snake. You strike with the force of the tiger. You live by the passion and wisdom of the Dragon. Your discipline, loyalty, and honour align you with the laws of the universe and give you peace and strength within the void.’

The Dragon represents our mental character (wude) and the Tiger represents our physical abilities (wuxin).

The photo at the bottom qualifies the person named on the certificate. The photo is embossed with the seal of Silent River Kung Fu when the certificate is signed. This ensures the authenticity of the certificate holder. The photo qualifies the name on the certificate and the embossment ensures the photo cannot be altered.

The school’s logo represents peace (the lotus) and strength (the triangle) within the void (the black circle).

The certificate is signed by two master instructors. These signatures represent their personal endorsements of the certificate holder. These signatures will also include the personal chop of each master.

This document certifies the achievement of the stated rank on a specific date. It does not certify the holder as an instructor unless the circles at the bottom centre are endorsed by a master instructor’s personal chop for each year of teaching endorsement. This endorsement is only available to actively training black belts.
