To Be a Plant

In contrast to last week, I am doing much better by means of attitude. I have consistently trained for at least 30 min a day for 9 days and most importantly it's recorded. Admitting to myself that I actually can accomplish things has greatly improved my motivation to keep working on it and not just more kung fu, but pushing to finish my terms papers.

The discussion of last Thursday's meeting about reacting vs. responding got me thinking about a concept covered in my BIO class. The lesson was about an adaptive feature of land plants: being sessile. Sessile means immobile, but not eaxctly, because a plant still moves just not they way we do. A plants reaction to stimulus is growth. That is very extraordinary, simple, and yet complex. Although we would wish to be like plants, being steadfast in growth, but alas we are emotional creatures.
