Dragon Badge Requirements

Physical Skill and Fitness

  • Black Belt Dragon Posture

  • Black Belt Dragon Fist

  • Perform a proper bow and explain why we bow and explain why we do it the way we do

  • Juggle two bean bags with two hands for 5 revolutions

  • Proper tying of the belt

  • Perform proper bowing in ceremony and explain why we do it

  • Consistently distinguish left from right

  • Break a rebreakable board in one try with a front thrust kick

Canada and Community Appreciation

  • Name three organizations in your community that help people and tell something about what one of these organizations does

  • Do a good turn by helping in your community. Tell what you did.

  • Identify Alberta on a map

  • Identify Canada on a globe

  • Sing or recite the Canadian National Anthem alone or with a parent

Health and Safety

  • In the case of a bad storm or flood, know where you can get safe food and water in your home. Tell how to purify water. Know where and how to shut off water, electricity, gas, or oil.

  • Make a list of your first aid supplies, or make a first aid kit. Know where the first aid things are kept

  • Plan a home fire escape plan for your family

  • Tell three ways to stop the spread of a cold

  • Show what to do for a small cut on your finger

  • - Explain the effect of smoking on your body

Family and Nature

  • Make a list of some things for which your family spends money. Tell how you can help your family save money

  • Explain why garbage and trash must be disposed of properly

  • Develop a family energy savings plan and tell the things you did to carry it out

  • Show that you know how to look after your clothes. Help with at least two family washes.

  • Tell what your family does for fun. Make a list of fun things your family might do for little cost.

  • Grow and care for a plant

Creativity and Communication

  • Draw and colour a picture of a dragon

  • Make a mask of a dragon and try to look like the animal while wearing it

  • With your parents, read and discuss “Why is Everybody Always Picking on Me?”
