New Black Belt or Otherwise - the images we leave

The imprint we make in another persons memory. That concept is fascinating. This filed image can be made instantaneously and remain for a lifetime. This notion is kind of daunting, yet familiar to us all, maybe something that we all, at times, take for granted. How often do we think about the impression that we leave!

“Communication is key”, is a phrase that I continually share during my work safety meetings. How do we do this constructively, to ensure that there’s a positive take away, so that it leaves a good memorable impression and stays impregnated in one’s muscle memory?

The intended impressed vision is sometimes localized to the surroundings and environment which it is expressed, and filed as such, maybe in the PTSD file or in the joyful file. I think back to when I was in CAF basic training, the impression left by my commanding officers varied hugely, in turn some I respected a lot more than others and yet they all had the same intentions.

When we teach or when we are just walking through a grocery store, we are communicating, we are representing ourselves and maybe an organization that we work for and leaving images all over the place. Think of the paparazzi, (but these paparazzi don’t have cameras), being around you continuously when you are in the presence of other individuals or even your pets. Envision your dogs mental photo album of you, good or bad?

Important to remember is that these images are not just taken with people’s eyes, but all human senses. These images are being developed from our humility, expressed passion, our empathy, our ego, our posture, our intensity or could be one spoken word or our silence!

For the parents, this is not new news, but think about how our children absorb and copy us. The fact that our unborn child’s personality is developing while in ureteral based off of the stress and emotions of the mother and her surrounding environment is absolutely amazing.

Think about “surrounding yourself with events and experiences that become miracles” it’s not just the physicality of our body, it’s the mental impact…the image.

I think we usually know the image we are portraying and the file we are going into. Communicating is sometimes tough for many as they are shy, or introverts, and easy for others as they are always talking and extroverts. The fact of the matter is be present with yourself and understand that you are always communicating and the iPhone is not required to capture these images.

Say cheese!
